Stimbo, honey, no offense, you sound a bit arrogant -judging others like that: "so called intelligent" etc. You also sound a bit frustrated too:)

Think abt it. Did the girl in this case PROCLAIM to you that she was intelligent..a genius? No. YOU're the one that made a HUGE deal out of what she was (PHD, first in class). You're the one that focused on it and assumed she must be a genius, before even talking to her. Now you wonder why you feel let down, cheated? Because you had unreasonable expectations, sweetie:) And you've created the castle of cards yourself.

She probably didn't show off at all and had no idea you'd be testing her IQ on the first date:) When a girl goes out on a date, the guard is down…the brain is focused on the potential romance…vulnerable..not thinking "ok, now this guy's gonna start firing questions." DON'T, please don't immediately conclude that b/c she wasn't able to give you an answer on the spot, she must not be intelligent. There are other explanations for why she made very little sense: it's hard, when you're feeling romantic, to immediately switch back to cold, calculated, brainy mode. You've taken her by surprise and she just couldn't pull herself together fast enough. If she's also even remotely shy…then she must have felt very bad being caucght off guard like that and she's probably upset about it. She probably is wondering what kind of guy would do that to her, ON A DATE???? Her dating another guy (you assume he's not s smart…based on nothing;) may just mean she's looking for someone to also be nice to her, nurture her, approach her with sweetness..You could be the smartest guy in the world, if the full package means you're also mean, cold, arrogant..why would she fall for that;( You have to work on your emotional side too..be warm, nice!

Sweetie, if I reach a conclusion about you simply based on your message (as you seem to coldly judge others based on a few discussions), maybe the odds wouldn't be in your favor;) But I might be wrong..and you might actually be a very nice guy who just doesn't know much about the separation between dating and MENSA testing;) Others do.

Honestly, it sounds like he grew up a little spoiled and never had to do things around the house (take that one up with his parents! lol) You're going to have to find a gentle, quiet way to instill a since of pride about his home in him. My husband was kind of the same when he was younger and I blamed it on the fact that we grew up differently. He got paid to mow the lawn or do things, I was just expected to do it. He was looking for a reward and my reward has always been the finished product. I think at some point he realized that I wasn't going to stop until things were done and now he's more into it.

I also learned to do things on my own and there was a little guilt when I was ripping a room apart to paint it while he was on the couch…..

That being said, there are still things that he wont do (or I wont allow him to do) painting is one of them (he's awful at it). I would never ask him to put curtains up (maybe the rod) and he would honestly rather take a bullet in the head than go shopping for "house stuff" with me.

Pick your battles. If he doesn't want to be part of the process (and many men don't) of picking out things for the house, do it yourself. When you need his help, tell him. If he claims he doesn't know how to do something (or you need help too) the internet is a great resource.

My husband is pretty helpful now and we talk about projects before we take them on. Sometimes, if he needs motivation, I'll mention that I'm getting an estimate on getting something done. He's either too cheap or prideful because the thought of another man in the house doing something that he COULD do…..kills him…lol

Good luck :)

Oh, LOL I thought that service manager was smoking! I was like whaaat!

Ha, that did look like it, but after looking at it a few times, he coughed in his hand, and the smoke was behind him from the grill.

Weaverville is really expanding. I am sure it will be big. People coming from Eastern Tennessee, Madison County, etc.

Was that service manager smoking? It sure looked like it.

I thought Lowe’s had an agreement so no Lowe’s employee smoked on Lowe’s property.

I really like the store and am relieved that I don’t have to go into Asheville either.

yep, but the only problem is: no businesses other than lowes, walmart, subway, and the abc store is coming in there. I wish some other businesses comes there.

Great…. City of Asheville no more.
They can have it all.

They have to pass Liquor by the drink in Weaverville to get the nice restaurants to come on

AMEN brother!
